Will new Sony bookshelf speakers work with my 6 year old Stereo system?

Question: I just ordered Sony SB-1000 bookshelf speakers for my LCD TV. Before I go out and buy a receiver to hook them up to, I was wondering if they would work with my old stereo system... it is about a 8 year old Aiwa 3 disc changer system - 120 watts. Could I just unplug the old

Answer: Don't see why not. A quick look at the specs suggests they will work fine. They are meant to be loud, but should do ok for a small room at moderate levels.

However, note that DACs are only important when you utilize the player's analog audio (red and white) output. They're completely bypassed for digital optical, coaxial and HDMI connections.

The BDP9600 comes with Burr-Brown DACs, while Wolfson Microelectronics is another brand producing audiophile-quality converters.
